چکیده

OBJECTIVES Clear guidelines when to remove an implant are missing. The aim of this study was evaluate the amount peri-implant bone loss at explantation by specialists. MATERIAL AND METHODS Implantology specialists were asked provide implants explanted due peri-implantitis with related clinical information. Early failures (survival time <12 months) analyzed separately. Questionnaires inquired age, sex, smoking, location, usage substitutes, and brand. Explants measured assessed using radiographs. Covariate-adjusted mixed-effects models evaluated for survival time. RESULTS Twelve dental offices provided 192 explants from 161 patients 99 Thirty-three (17.2%) early failures. Excluding failures, average 9.5 ± 5.8 years absolute relative 7.0 ± 2.7 mm 66.2 ± 23.7%, respectively. Late removed mean 57.7% in maxilla 73.7% mandible irrespective In fully adjusted models, only age implantation (B = -0.19; 95% CI: -0.27, -0.10) remained a significant factor Implants exhibited significantly more if they positioned (B = 17.3; 3.91, 30.72) or shorter (B = -2.79; -5.50, -0.08). CONCLUSIONS Though (66.2%) which accordance literature, its wide variation differentiation between jaws showed that profession has no universally accepted threshold beyond cannot be preserved.

Studies on Explanted Orthopedic Implants

One of the basic functions of the human body is mobility. When the mobile function can no longer be performed, a number of problems arise. Orthopaedic implants are medical devices made of one or more biocompatible materials that are placed inside the human body in order to replace the damaged parts and take over their biological functions. The purpose of this paper is to present a series of ana...

Analysis of Explanted Silicone/silica Composite Breast Implants

A study was conducted to examine the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of composite (silicone/silica) breast implants as a function of implantation time. In the study the properties of SILASTCII gel-filled explants with in vivo duration times ranging from 4 months to 10 years were compared to lot-matched control (unimplanted) samples. Tensile strength properties were measured for bo...

Bone level changes at implants supporting crowns or fixed partial dentures with or without cantilevers.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to analyze whether or not a cantilever extension on a fixed dental prosthesis (FDP) supported by implants increased the amount of peri-implant bone loss or technical complications compared with reconstructions without cantilevers. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty-four partially dentate patients with a total of 54 FDPs supported by 78 implants were enrolled in th...
